[1692] S. Is it not so that the Arahant (arahā) neither abandons nor clings, but stands having abandoned; neither scatters nor amasses, but stands having scattered; neither extinguishes nor kindles, but stands having extinguished? P. Yes. S. If the Arahant neither extinguishes nor kindles, but stands having extinguished, then surely, good sir, it should not be said: "There is accumulation of merit (puññūpacaya) for the Arahant."
