[1701] Paravādin: Is it only that which is bound up with the faculties (indriyabaddha) that is suffering (dukkha)?
Sakavādin: Yes.
S.: Is it only that which is bound up with the faculties that is impermanent (anicca), conditioned (saṅkhata), dependently arisen (paṭiccasamuppanna), subject to destruction (khayadhamma), subject to passing away (vayadhamma), subject to fading away (virāgadhamma), subject to cessation (nirodhadhamma), subject to change (vipariṇāmadhamma)?
P.: It should not be said thus. …
S.: Is not that which is not bound up with the faculties (anindriyabaddha) also impermanent, conditioned, dependently arisen, subject to destruction, subject to passing away, subject to fading away, subject to cessation, subject to change?
P.: Yes.
S.: If that which is not bound up with the faculties is also impermanent, conditioned, dependently arisen, subject to destruction, subject to passing away, subject to fading away, subject to cessation, subject to change, then truly it should not be said that only that which is bound up with the faculties is suffering.
