[1720] S. Is it not to be said: "The Saṅgha eats, drinks, chews, tastes"?
P. Yes.
S. But were not eight drinks (pāna) spoken of by the Blessed One — mango drink (ambapāna), rose-apple drink (jambupāna), drink of bananas with seeds (cocapāna), drink of bananas without seeds (mocapāna), honey drink (madhupāna), grape drink (muddikapāna), lotus-root drink (sālukapāna), and phārusaka drink (phārusakapāna)?
P. Yes.
S. If eight drinks were spoken of by the Blessed One — mango drink, rose-apple drink, drink of bananas with seeds, drink of bananas without seeds, honey drink, grape drink, lotus-root drink, and phārusaka drink — then indeed, good sir, it should be said: "The Saṅgha eats, drinks, chews, tastes."
