[1743] Sakavādin: The Buddha, the Blessed One, has no compassion (karuṇā)? Paravādin: Yes. Sakavādin: But did not the Blessed One enter upon the attainment of great compassion (mahākaruṇāsamāpatti)? Paravādin: Yes. Sakavādin: If the Blessed One entered upon the attainment of great compassion, then indeed, good sir, it should not be said that the Buddha, the Blessed One, has no compassion.
