[1872] [Sakavādin:] Is there no repetition-conditionality (āsevana-paccayatā) of any kind?
[Paravādin:] Yes (āmantā).
[Sakavādin:] But was it not said by the Blessed One: "Bhikkhus, the destruction of life (pāṇātipāta), when practiced (āsevita), developed (bhāvita), and made much of (bahulīkata), conduces to hell (niraya), conduces to the animal realm (tiracchānayoni), conduces to the realm of hungry ghosts (pittivisaya); and the very lightest result (vipāka) of the destruction of life conduces to a short lifespan for one who has become human"? Is there indeed such a discourse (suttanta)?
[Paravādin:] Yes.
[Sakavādin:] In that case, some repetition-conditionality does exist.
