Abhidhammapiṭaka · Kathāvatthu · Vol. 37 · Section 206

[206] Sakavādin: Does the Arahant (arahā) fall away from Arahantship (arahatta)? Paravādin: Yes. Sakavādin: Does the Stream-Enterer (sotāpanna) fall away from the Fruition of Stream-Entry (sotāpatti-phala)? Paravādin: It should not be said so. Sakavādin: Whose development of the path (magga-bhāvanā) is greater — the Arahant's or the Stream-Enterer's? Paravādin: The Arahant's. Sakavādin: If the Arahant's development of the path is greater, and the Arahant falls away from Arahantship, then indeed, good sir, it should be said: "The Stream-Enterer falls away from the Fruition of Stream-Entry."
