Abhidhammapiṭaka · Kathāvatthu · Vol. 37 · Section 212

[212] "Does the Once-Returner (sakadāgāmī) fall away (parihāyati) from the fruition of Once-Returning (sakadāgāmiphala)?" — "Yes." "Does the Stream-Enterer (sotāpanna) fall away from the fruition of Stream-Entry (sotāpattiphala)?" — "It should not be said thus." "Whose development of the path (maggabhāvanā) … development of the factors of awakening (bojjhaṅgabhāvanā) is superior — the Once-Returner's or the Stream-Enterer's?" — "The Once-Returner's." "If the Once-Returner's development of the factors of awakening is superior, and the Once-Returner falls away from the fruition of Once-Returning, then indeed, good sir, it should be said: 'The Stream-Enterer falls away from the fruition of Stream-Entry.'"
