[314] [Sakavādin:] "Does past feeling (vedanā) exist? … Does perception (saññā) exist? Do volitional formations (saṅkhārā) exist? … Does consciousness (viññāṇa) exist?" [Paravādin:] "Yes." [Sakavādin:] "Has not past consciousness ceased, departed, changed, disappeared, utterly vanished?" [Paravādin:] "Yes." [Sakavādin:] "If past consciousness has ceased … utterly vanished, then indeed it should not be said, 'Past consciousness exists.'"
