[621] P. (Paravādin, the opponent): "Should it not be said, 'There is vocal utterance (vacībheda) for one who has entered attainment (samāpanna)'?"
S. (Sakavādin, the orthodox speaker): "Yes."
P.: "But was it not said by the Blessed One: 'Ānanda, a disciple named Abhibhū, of the Blessed One Sikhī, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One, standing in the Brahmā world (brahmaloka), made the thousandfold world-system (sahassī lokadhātu) know with his voice:
"Arouse yourselves! Strive forth!
Apply yourselves to the Buddha's teaching (buddhasāsana)!
Sweep away the army of Death,
as an elephant does a house of reeds.
Whoever shall dwell heedful
in this Dhamma and Discipline,
having abandoned the round of births (jātisaṃsāra),
shall make an end of suffering (dukkha)"'
— does such a discourse (suttanta) really exist?"
S.: "Yes."
P.: "Then indeed there is vocal utterance for one who has entered attainment."
