P. But did not Yasa the clansman, Uttiya the householder, and Setu the brahmin youth attain Arahantship while still bearing the outward marks (byañjana) of a layperson?
S. Yes.
P. If Yasa the clansman, Uttiya the householder, and Setu the brahmin youth attained Arahantship while still bearing the outward marks of a layperson, then indeed, good sir, you should say: "A layperson could be an Arahant."
