[1031] Is [what is] not body (kāya) not bodily formation (kāya-saṅkhāra)? Bodily formation is not body, [but it is] bodily formation. Apart from body and bodily formation, the remaining [phenomena] are neither body nor bodily formation. Is [what is] not bodily formation not body? Body is not bodily formation, [but it is] body. Apart from body and bodily formation, the remaining [phenomena] are neither body nor bodily formation. Is [what is] not speech (vacī) not verbal formation (vacī-saṅkhāra)? Verbal formation is not speech, [but it is] verbal formation. Apart from speech and verbal formation, the remaining [phenomena] are neither speech nor verbal formation. Is [what is] not verbal formation not speech? Speech is not verbal formation, [but it is] speech. Apart from speech and verbal formation, the remaining [phenomena] are neither speech nor verbal formation. Is [what is] not mind (citta) not mental formation (citta-saṅkhāra)? Mental formation is not mind, [but it is] mental formation. Apart from mind and mental formation, the remaining [phenomena] are neither mind nor mental formation. Is [what is] not mental formation not mind? Mind is not mental formation, [but it is] mind.
