[810] Is what is not eye (cakkhu) not element (dhātu)? Setting aside the eye, the remaining elements are not eye, [but are] element; setting aside the eye and the elements, the remaining are neither eye nor element. Is what is not element not ear element (sotadhātu)? Yes. Is what is not eye not element? Setting aside the eye, the remaining are not eye, [but are] element; setting aside the eye and the elements, the remaining are neither eye nor element. Is what is not element not nose element (ghānadhātu)? … Is what is not element not dhamma element (dhammadhātu)? Yes. … Is what is not dhamma not element? Yes. Is what is not element not eye element (cakkhudhātu)? Yes. Is what is not dhamma not element? Yes. Is what is not element not ear element? … Is what is not element not mind-consciousness element (manoviññāṇadhātu)? Yes. The wheel (cakka) should be constructed. As with the designation (paṇṇatti) of the Āyatanayamaka (the Pairs on Sense Bases), so should the designation of the Dhātuyamaka (the Pairs on Elements) be elaborated in detail.
