[1412] Whoever does not develop the 'I shall come to know the unknown' faculty (anaññātaññassāmītindriya), has that one not developed the perfect-knowledge faculty (aññindriya)?
The Arahant does not develop the 'I shall come to know the unknown' faculty, but it is not that he has not developed the perfect-knowledge faculty. Seven persons do not develop the 'I shall come to know the unknown' faculty and have not developed the perfect-knowledge faculty.
Or, whoever has not developed the perfect-knowledge faculty, does that one not develop the 'I shall come to know the unknown' faculty?
The eighth person (aṭṭhamaka) has not developed the perfect-knowledge faculty, but it is not that he does not develop the 'I shall come to know the unknown' faculty. Seven persons have not developed the perfect-knowledge faculty and do not develop the 'I shall come to know the unknown' faculty.
