[1411] Whoever does not abandon the grief faculty (domanassindriya), has that one not realized the perfect-knower faculty (aññātāvindriya)?
The Arahant does not abandon the grief faculty, but it is not that he has not realized the perfect-knower faculty. Eight persons do not abandon the grief faculty and have not realized the perfect-knower faculty.
Or rather, whoever has not realized the perfect-knower faculty, does that one not abandon the grief faculty?
One endowed with the path of non-returning (anāgāmimaggasamaṅgī) has not realized the perfect-knower faculty, but it is not that he does not abandon the grief faculty. Eight persons have not realized the perfect-knower faculty and do not abandon the grief faculty.
