Pariññāvāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1351

[1351] Whoever does not abandon the grief faculty (domanassindriya), does that one not realize the perfect-knower faculty (aññātāvindriya)? One who realizes the highest fruition (aggaphala) does not abandon the grief faculty, but it is not that he does not realize the perfect-knower faculty. Excepting the person endowed with the path of non-returning (anāgāmimagga) and the Arahant, the remaining persons do not abandon the grief faculty and do not realize the perfect-knower faculty. Or rather, whoever does not realize the perfect-knower faculty, does that one not abandon the grief faculty? The person endowed with the path of non-returning does not realize the perfect-knower faculty, but it is not that he does not abandon the grief faculty. Excepting the person endowed with the path of non-returning and the Arahant, the remaining persons do not realize the perfect-knower faculty and do not abandon the grief faculty.
