[131] Now at that time several bhikkhunīs were traveling on the highway from Sāketa to Sāvatthī. On the way, thieves came out and robbed some of the bhikkhunīs and violated some of the bhikkhunīs. Royal troops came out from Sāvatthī and caught some of the thieves; some of the thieves escaped. Those who escaped went forth among the bhikkhus. Those who were caught were being led away to execution. Those who had gone forth saw those thieves being led away to execution, and having seen them, they said: "It is well indeed that we escaped; if we should be caught today, we too would be slain in just this same way." The bhikkhus said: "But what, friends, did you do?" Then those who had gone forth informed the bhikkhus of this matter. The bhikkhus reported this matter to the Blessed One.
"Bhikkhus, a violator of a bhikkhunī (bhikkhunīdūsaka), if not fully ordained, should not be given full ordination (upasampadā); if fully ordained, he should be expelled.
"Bhikkhus, one who causes schism in the Saṅgha (saṅghabhedaka), if not fully ordained, should not be given full ordination; if fully ordained, he should be expelled.
"Bhikkhus, a shedder of [a Tathāgata's] blood (lohituppādaka), if not fully ordained, should not be given full ordination; if fully ordained, he should be expelled."
