[141] Now at that time the Venerable Kumārakassapa had received full ordination (upasampadā) at twenty years counting from conception (gabbhavīsa). Then it occurred to the Venerable Kumārakassapa: "It has been laid down by the Blessed One that a person less than twenty years of age should not be given full ordination; and I was fully ordained at twenty years counting from conception. Am I fully ordained, or am I not fully ordained?" They informed the Blessed One of this matter. "Bhikkhus, when in the mother's womb the first mind (citta) has arisen, the first consciousness has appeared, then, reckoning from that, that is his birth (jāti). Bhikkhus, I allow one who is twenty years counting from conception to be given full ordination."
