[165] Now at that time the group-of-six bhikkhus overlapped one boundary (sīmā) with another boundary. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, for those whose boundary was authorized first, that formal act (kamma) of theirs is in accordance with the Dhamma, unshakeable, and fit to stand; for those whose boundary was authorized afterwards, that formal act of theirs is not in accordance with the Dhamma, shakeable, and not fit to stand. Bhikkhus, a boundary is not to be overlapped with a boundary. Whoever should overlap one commits an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa)."
Now at that time the group-of-six bhikkhus covered one boundary with another boundary. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, for those whose boundary was authorized first, that formal act of theirs is in accordance with the Dhamma, unshakeable, and fit to stand; for those whose boundary was authorized afterwards, that formal act of theirs is not in accordance with the Dhamma, shakeable, and not fit to stand. Bhikkhus, a boundary is not to be covered by a boundary. Whoever should cover one commits an offense of wrong-doing. I allow, bhikkhus, one who is authorizing a boundary to authorize the boundary leaving an intermediate zone (sīmantarikā)."
