[209] Now at that time King Seniya Bimbisāra of Magadha, wishing to postpone the rains residence (vassa), sent a messenger to the bhikkhus, saying: "Perhaps the venerable ones might enter the rains residence in the coming bright fortnight (juṇha)." They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, I allow you to comply with kings."
