[23] Bhikkhus, seeing thus, the instructed noble disciple (sutavā ariyasāvako) becomes disenchanted with form (rūpa), becomes disenchanted with feeling (vedanā), becomes disenchanted with perception (saññā), becomes disenchanted with volitional formations (saṅkhārā), becomes disenchanted with consciousness (viññāṇa). Being disenchanted, he becomes dispassionate; through dispassion he is liberated; when liberated, there is the knowledge (ñāṇa): 'Liberated.' He understands: 'Birth (jāti) is destroyed, the holy life has been lived, what had to be done has been done, there is no further existence in this state.'
