[54] Through the Blessed One's determination, the five hundred pieces of firewood could not be split, and then were split; the fires would not kindle, and then kindled; would not go out, and then went out. He created five hundred braziers (mandāmukhī). By this method there come to be three and a half thousand miracles (pāṭihāriya).
