[88] Now at that time a certain brahmin youth approached the bhikkhus and asked for the going forth (pabbajjā). The bhikkhus told him the supports (nissaya) in advance. He said this: "Venerable sirs, if you had told me the supports after I had gone forth, I would have delighted [in the going forth]. Now, venerable sirs, I shall not go forth; the supports are loathsome and repulsive to me." [3] They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, the supports should not be told in advance; whoever should tell them commits an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). Bhikkhus, I allow the supports to be told immediately after one has received full ordination (upasampadā)."
