[1924] A past phenomenon (atīto dhammo) is a condition for a present phenomenon (paccuppanna) by immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya):
The successively preceding past aggregates (khandhā) are a condition for the successively subsequent present aggregates by immediacy condition.
Conformity (anuloma) is a condition for change-of-lineage (gotrabhu); conformity is a condition for cleansing (vodāna); change-of-lineage is a condition for the path (magga); cleansing is a condition for the path; the path is a condition for fruition (phala); fruition is a condition for fruition; conformity is a condition for the attainment of fruition (phalasamāpatti); for one emerging from cessation (nirodha), the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana) is a condition for the attainment of fruition by immediacy condition.
