[2110] An internal phenomenon (ajjhatta dhamma) is a condition for an internal phenomenon by presence condition (atthi-paccaya): conascent (sahajāta), prenascent (purejāta), postnascent (pacchājāta), nutriment (āhāra), faculty (indriya).
Conascent: one internal aggregate (khandha) [is a condition] for the three aggregates and for the mind-originated forms (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa); two aggregates … At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), the aggregates [are a condition] for the base (vatthu), the base for the aggregates, one primary element (mahābhūta) … . (Abbreviated.) For non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), one primary element [is a condition] for three primary elements.
Prenascent: the eye … the base … [this is] similar to [the exposition under] prenascence. The base is a condition for the internal aggregates by presence condition.
Postnascent: internal aggregates, and internal edible nutriment (kabaḷīkāra āhāra), [are a condition] for this body; the material life-faculty (rūpa-jīvitindriya) [is a condition] for the kamma-born forms (kaṭattā-rūpa).
