[54] Dependent on (paccayā) a phenomenon (dhamma) that is mind (citta), a phenomenon that is not mind arises, not by root condition (na-hetu-paccaya): dependent on rootless (ahetuka) mind, the associated aggregates (khandhā) and mind-originated form (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) arise; at the moment of rootless rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi) [likewise]; dependent on the mind accompanied by doubt (vicikicchā), accompanied by restlessness (uddhacca), there arises the delusion (moha) accompanied by doubt, accompanied by restlessness.
Dependent on a phenomenon that is not mind, a phenomenon that is not mind arises, not by root condition: dependent on one rootless aggregate that is not mind, two aggregates and mind-originated form arise; [dependent on] two aggregates …; rootless rebirth-linking, up to the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā); dependent on the eye base (cakkhāyatana), the aggregates accompanied by eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa) arise; dependent on the body base (kāyāyatana), the aggregates accompanied by body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa) arise; dependent on the base (vatthu), the rootless aggregates that are not mind arise; dependent on the aggregates accompanied by doubt, accompanied by restlessness, and on the base, there arises the delusion accompanied by doubt, accompanied by restlessness.
