[554] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is defiled (saṅkiliṭṭha) but not a defilement (kilesa) is a condition for a phenomenon that is defiled but not a defilement by kamma condition (kamma-paccaya): volition (cetanā) that is defiled but not a defilement is a condition for the associated (sampayutta) aggregates (khandhā) by kamma condition.
A phenomenon that is defiled but not a defilement is a condition for a phenomenon that is both a defilement and defiled by kamma condition: volition that is defiled but not a defilement is a condition for the associated defilements by kamma condition.
A phenomenon that is defiled but not a defilement is a condition for a phenomenon that is both a defilement and defiled, and for a phenomenon that is defiled but not a defilement, by kamma condition: volition that is defiled but not a defilement is a condition for the associated aggregates and defilements by kamma condition.
