Nīvaraṇadukkusalattika

[1348] Dependent on an unwholesome phenomenon (dhamma) that is a hindrance (nīvaraṇa), an unwholesome phenomenon that is a hindrance arises, not by root condition (na-hetupaccayā): dependent on the hindrance of doubt (vicikicchā-nīvaraṇa) [and] the hindrance of restlessness (uddhacca-nīvaraṇa), the hindrance of ignorance (avijjā-nīvaraṇa) [arises]. Dependent on an unwholesome phenomenon that is not a hindrance, an unwholesome phenomenon that is a hindrance arises, not by root condition: dependent on the aggregates (khandhā) accompanied by doubt [and] accompanied by restlessness, the hindrance of ignorance [arises]. Dependent on an unwholesome phenomenon that is a hindrance and an unwholesome phenomenon that is not a hindrance, an unwholesome phenomenon that is a hindrance arises, not by root condition: dependent on the hindrance of doubt and the hindrance of restlessness and the associated (sampayutta) aggregates, the hindrance of ignorance [arises].
