[255] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is a root (hetu) and is undefiled but subject to defilement (asaṅkiliṭṭha-saṅkilesika) is a condition, by way of object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is a root and is undefiled but subject to defilement; it is a condition by way of connascence condition (sahajāta-paccaya); it is a condition by way of decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya).
