[522] A root (hetu) phenomenon (dhamma) that is present (paccuppanna) is a condition (paccaya) for a not-root (na-hetu) phenomenon that is not past (na-atīta) by root condition (hetu-paccaya). A root phenomenon that is present is a condition for a not-root phenomenon that is not future (na-anāgata) by root condition. A root phenomenon that is present is a condition for a not-root phenomenon that is not past and a not-root phenomenon that is not future by root condition.
