[960] Dependent on a root (hetu) phenomenon (dhamma) that is both a taint and associated with taints (āsavañceva-āsavasampayuttañca), a not-root (na-hetu) phenomenon that is not a taint and not dissociated from taints (na-āsavañceva-na-āsavavippayuttañca) arises by root condition (hetupaccayā).
