[138] Now at that time the King of Kāsi sent to Jīvaka Komārabhacca a woolen blanket (kambala) worth half a kāsi (aḍḍhakāsiya), that is, valued at half a kāsi. Then Jīvaka Komārabhacca, taking that woolen blanket worth half a kāsi, approached the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, he sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, Jīvaka Komārabhacca said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, this woolen blanket of mine, worth half a kāsi, that is, valued at half a kāsi, was sent by the King of Kāsi. May the Blessed One accept my woolen blanket, that it may be for my welfare and happiness for a long time."
The Blessed One accepted the woolen blanket. Then the Blessed One instructed, roused, inspired, and gladdened Jīvaka Komārabhacca with a talk on the Dhamma. Then Jīvaka Komārabhacca — instructed, roused, inspired, and gladdened by the Blessed One with a talk on the Dhamma — rose from his seat, paid homage to the Blessed One, circumambulated him keeping his right side towards him, and departed.
Then the Blessed One, on that ground, in that connection, having given a talk on the Dhamma, addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus, I allow a woolen blanket."
