[179] Bhikkhus, if a formal act (kamma) is performed by an incomplete assembly (vagga) not in accordance with the Dhamma, it is no act and should not be carried out. Bhikkhus, if an act is performed by a united assembly (samagga) not in accordance with the Dhamma, it is no act and should not be carried out. Bhikkhus, if an act is performed by an incomplete assembly in accordance with the Dhamma, it is no act and should not be carried out. Bhikkhus, if an act is performed by an incomplete assembly by a semblance of the Dhamma, it is no act and should not be carried out. Bhikkhus, if an act is performed by a united assembly by a semblance of the Dhamma, it is no act and should not be carried out. Bhikkhus, if an act is defective in the motion (ñatti) though complete in the proclamation (anusāvana), it is no act and should not be carried out. Bhikkhus, if an act is defective in the proclamation though complete in the motion, it is no act and should not be carried out. Bhikkhus, if an act is defective both in the motion and defective in the proclamation, it is no act and should not be carried out. Bhikkhus, an act apart from the Dhamma is no act and should not be carried out. Bhikkhus, an act apart from the Vinaya is no act and should not be carried out. Bhikkhus, an act apart from the Teacher's instruction is no act and should not be carried out. Bhikkhus, if an act has been carried out though protested against, being not in accordance with the Dhamma, subject to reversal, and unfit to stand, it is no act and should not be carried out.
