[197] Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu has an offense (āpatti) that should be seen. The Saṅgha, or several bhikkhus, or a single individual reproves him: "Friend, you have fallen into an offense; do you see that offense?" He speaks thus: "Yes, friends, I see it." The Saṅgha suspends him for not seeing the offense — an act not in accordance with the Dhamma (adhammakamma).
Here again, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu has an offense that should be made amends for. The Saṅgha, or several bhikkhus, or a single individual reproves him: "Friend, you have fallen into an offense; make amends for that offense." He speaks thus: "Yes, friends, I shall make amends for it." The Saṅgha suspends him for not making amends for the offense — an act not in accordance with the Dhamma.

The Saṅgha, or several bhikkhus, or a single individual reproves him: "Friend, you hold an evil view; relinquish that evil view." He speaks thus: "Yes, friends, I shall relinquish it." The Saṅgha suspends him for not relinquishing the evil view — an act not in accordance with the Dhamma.
