[93] Then it occurred to the bhikkhus: "Is that which is allowable for a watch (yāmakālika), together with that which is allowable until midday (yāvakālika), allowable or not allowable? Is that which is allowable for seven days (sattāhakālika), together with that which is allowable until midday, allowable or not allowable? Is that which is allowable for life (yāvajīvika), together with that which is allowable until midday, allowable or not allowable? Is that which is allowable for seven days, together with that which is allowable for a watch, allowable or not allowable? Is that which is allowable for life, together with that which is allowable for a watch, allowable or not allowable? Is that which is allowable for life, together with that which is allowable for seven days, allowable or not allowable?" They reported this matter to the Blessed One.
"Bhikkhus, that which is allowable for a watch, together with that which is allowable until midday, received that same day, is allowable in the right time; it is not allowable outside the right time. Bhikkhus, that which is allowable for seven days, together with that which is allowable until midday, received that same day, is allowable in the right time; it is not allowable outside the right time. Bhikkhus, that which is allowable for life, together with that which is allowable until midday, received that same day, is allowable in the right time; it is not allowable outside the right time. Bhikkhus, that which is allowable for seven days, together with that which is allowable for a watch, received that same day, is allowable during the watch; when the watch has passed, it is not allowable. Bhikkhus, that which is allowable for life, together with that which is allowable for a watch, received that same day, is allowable during the watch; when the watch has passed, it is not allowable. Bhikkhus, that which is allowable for life, together with that which is allowable for seven days, received that same day, is allowable for seven days; when seven days have passed, it is not allowable."
The Bhesajjakkhandhaka (Chapter on Medicines), the sixth, is finished.
