[120] Now at that time a palace named Kokanuda belonging to Prince Bodhi (Bodhi rājakumāra) had recently been completed and had not yet been dwelt in by any ascetic or brahmin, or by any human being at all. Then Prince Bodhi addressed the brahmin youth Sañjikāputta: "Come, good Sañjikāputta, go to the Blessed One; and having approached, pay homage in my name with your head at the Blessed One's feet, and ask whether he is free from affliction, free from ailment, buoyant in health, strong, and dwelling in comfort, saying: 'Venerable sir, Prince Bodhi pays homage with his head at the Blessed One's feet, and asks whether he is free from affliction, free from ailment, buoyant in health, strong, and dwelling in comfort.' And say this: 'Venerable sir, may the Blessed One consent to accept tomorrow's meal from Prince Bodhi, together with the Saṅgha of bhikkhus.'"
"So be it, sir," the brahmin youth Sañjikāputta replied to Prince Bodhi, and he went to the Blessed One; and having approached, he exchanged greetings with the Blessed One, and when the courteous and memorable talk was concluded, he sat down to one side. Seated to one side, the brahmin youth Sañjikāputta said this to the Blessed One: "Prince Bodhi pays homage with his head at the feet of the honourable Gotama, and asks whether he is free from affliction, free from ailment, buoyant in health, strong, and dwelling in comfort. And he says this: 'May the honourable Gotama consent to accept tomorrow's meal from Prince Bodhi, together with the Saṅgha of bhikkhus.'"
The Blessed One consented by remaining silent. Then the brahmin youth Sañjikāputta, having understood the Blessed One's consent, rose from his seat and went to Prince Bodhi; and having approached, he said this to Prince Bodhi: "We spoke in your name to that honourable Gotama, saying: 'Prince Bodhi pays homage with his head at the feet of the honourable Gotama, and asks whether he is free from affliction, free from ailment, buoyant in health, strong, and dwelling in comfort. And he says this: May the honourable Gotama consent to accept tomorrow's meal from Prince Bodhi, together with the Saṅgha of bhikkhus.' And the ascetic Gotama has consented."
