[2] Now at that time the group-of-six bhikkhus, while bathing, rubbed their bodies against a post — the thigh, the arm, the chest, and the back. People criticized, complained, and spread it about, saying: "How can the ascetics, sons of the Sakyan, while bathing, rub their bodies against a post — the thigh, the arm, the chest, and the back — like wrestlers and boxers, like village dandies?" Bhikkhus heard those people criticizing, complaining, and spreading it about … Then those bhikkhus reported this matter to the Blessed One … "Is it true, as they say, bhikkhus …?" "It is true, Blessed One." Having rebuked them and given a talk on the Dhamma, he addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus, one who is bathing should not rub the body against a post. Whoever should so rub it commits an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa)."
