[231] Now at that time a snake fell from a grass roof onto the shoulder of a certain bhikkhu. Frightened, he let out a cry. The bhikkhus, running up, said to that bhikkhu: "Why, friend, did you cry out?" Then he informed the bhikkhus of that matter. The bhikkhus reported the matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, I allow a canopy (vitāna)."
