[253] The townsfolk's guild of Rājagaha heard: "It is said that the householder Anāthapiṇḍika has invited the Saṅgha with the Buddha at its head for tomorrow's meal." Then the townsfolk's guild of Rājagaha said this to the householder Anāthapiṇḍika: "It is said, householder, that you have invited the Saṅgha with the Buddha at its head for tomorrow, and you are a visitor. We give you funds, householder, with which you may prepare the meal for the Saṅgha with the Buddha at its head."
"Enough, good sirs. I have funds with which I shall prepare the meal for the Saṅgha with the Buddha at its head."
