[288] Now at that time bhikkhus were troubled by scruples about sitting on a long seat (dīghāsana) together with those not entitled to a seat of equal rank (asamānāsanika). They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, I allow one to sit on a long seat together with those not entitled to a seat of equal rank, except for a paṇḍaka, a woman, and a hermaphrodite (ubhatobyañjanaka)."
