[501] Furthermore, Upāli, a bhikkhu who would be an accuser (codaka), wishing to accuse another, should reflect thus: 'Am I of pure verbal conduct (vacīsamācāra)? Am I endowed with pure verbal conduct, flawless and beyond reproach? Is this quality found in me, or not?' If, Upāli, the bhikkhu is not of pure verbal conduct, not endowed with pure verbal conduct, flawless and beyond reproach, there will be those who say to him: 'Come now, venerable sir, first train yourself in what pertains to speech.' Thus there will be those who say this to him.
