[502] Furthermore, Upāli, a bhikkhu who is an accuser, wishing to accuse another, should reflect thus: 'Is a mind (citta) of loving-kindness (mettā) established in me toward my fellows in the holy life, free from malice? Is this quality found in me, or not?' If, Upāli, a bhikkhu does not have a mind of loving-kindness established toward his fellows in the holy life, free from malice, there will be those who say to him, 'Come now, venerable sir, first establish a mind of loving-kindness toward your fellows in the holy life' — thus there will be those who say to him.
