[546] Now at that time a certain bhikkhu was foolish. The bhikkhunīs approached him and said this: "Venerable sir, please accept the exhortation." "Sisters, I am foolish; how can I accept the exhortation?" "Accept the exhortation, venerable sir, for it has been laid down thus by the Blessed One: the exhortation of bhikkhunīs is to be accepted by bhikkhus." They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, I allow the exhortation to be accepted by the rest, with the exception of one who is foolish."
