[620] Then the Venerable Ānanda said this to the elder bhikkhus: "Venerable sirs, at the time of his final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) the Blessed One said to me: 'Ānanda, if it wishes, the Saṅgha may, after my passing, abolish the lesser and minor training rules (khuddānukhuddakāni sikkhāpadāni).'"
"But, friend Ānanda, did you ask the Blessed One: 'Which, venerable sir, are the lesser and minor training rules?'"
"No, venerable sirs, I did not ask the Blessed One: 'Which, venerable sir, are the lesser and minor training rules?'"
Some elders said this: "Setting aside the four pārājikas, the remaining are the lesser and minor training rules."
Some elders said this: "Setting aside the four pārājikas and setting aside the thirteen saṅghādisesas, the remaining are the lesser and minor training rules."
Some elders said this: "Setting aside the four pārājikas, setting aside the thirteen saṅghādisesas, and setting aside the two aniyatas, the remaining are the lesser and minor training rules."
Some elders said this: "Setting aside the four pārājikas, setting aside the thirteen saṅghādisesas, setting aside the two aniyatas, and setting aside the thirty nissaggiya pācittiyas, the remaining are the lesser and minor training rules."
Some elders said this: "Setting aside the four pārājikas, setting aside the thirteen saṅghādisesas, setting aside the two aniyatas, setting aside the thirty nissaggiya pācittiyas, and setting aside the ninety-two pācittiyas, the remaining are the lesser and minor training rules."
