[654] "Venerable sir, is the village-interval practice (gāmantarakappa) allowable?"
"What, friend, is the village-interval practice?"
"Venerable sir, is it allowable for one who has finished his meal and refused further food (pavārita) to eat food that is not left over (anatiritta), thinking, 'I shall now go to another village'?"
"It is not allowable, friend."
"Where was it prohibited?"
"At Sāvatthī, in the Suttavibhaṅga."
"What offense does one commit?"
"A pācittiya offense for eating food that is not left over."
"Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha hear me. This third case has been decided by the Saṅgha. Thus this case is contrary to the Dhamma, contrary to the Vinaya, and departs from the Teacher's instruction. This third voting-ticket (salākā) I set down."
