[664] (Summary verse [uddāna] of the chapter:)
The ten points (vatthūni); the filling [of the bronze tray to the brim with water] (pūretvā); the [reconciliation] act (kammaṃ); he entered [Vesāli] with the envoy (dūtena pāvisi);
the four [stains of the moon and the sun], and again [the four stains of ascetics]; and gold and silver (rūpañ ca — i.e., rūpiya); Kosambī [where the Venerable Yasa appeared]; and the Pāṭheyyaka [bhikkhus];
the road (maggo) [— the search for a faction]; Soreyya; Saṅkassa; Kaṇṇakujja; Udumbara;
and Sahajāti; he invited [the intoned recitation] (ajjhesi); he heard [the news] (assosi) [— the Vajjiputtaka bhikkhus of Vesāli]; "Whom, now, shall we [win over to our side]?" (kaṃ nu kho mayaṃ);
the bowl (patta) [— the preparing of the ascetic's requisites beginning with the bowl]; he went upstream by boat (nāvāya ujjavi); even from afar (dūratopi); [the acceptance by the Venerable] Uttara (udāmassa);
the severe [censure] (dāruṇaṃ); and the Saṅgha [went to] Vesāli; loving-kindness (mettā); and the Saṅgha [settled the legal issue] by the committee procedure (ubbāhikā).
