[1002] A bhikkhu possessing ten factors may be agreed upon for a committee (ubbāhikā). It was in dependence on ten reasons that the training rule (sikkhāpada) was laid down by the Tathāgata for his disciples. There are ten dangers in entering the king's inner palace. There are ten objects of giving. There are ten treasures (ratana). A Saṅgha of bhikkhus has a quorum of ten. Ordination (upasampadā) should be conferred by a group of ten. There are ten kinds of rag-robes (paṃsukūla). There are ten kinds of robe-cloth for wearing. An extra robe may be kept for ten days at most. There are ten kinds of semen (sukka). There are ten kinds of women. There are ten kinds of wives. At Vesālī they proclaim the ten points. There are ten persons not to be paid homage. There are ten grounds of abuse. In ten ways one conveys slander. There are ten lodgings (senāsana). They asked for ten boons. There are ten unrighteous suspensions of the Pātimokkha. There are ten righteous suspensions of the Pātimokkha. There are ten benefits of rice-gruel (yāgu). There are ten kinds of meat that are not allowable. There are ten "at most" provisions. A bhikkhu of ten rains, competent and capable, may give the going forth, may confer ordination, may give dependence (nissaya), and may have a novice (sāmaṇera) attend upon him. A bhikkhunī of ten rains, competent and capable, may give the going forth, may confer ordination, may give dependence, and may have a female novice (sāmaṇerī) attend upon her. A bhikkhunī of ten rains, competent and capable, may accept the agreement to sponsor ordination (vuṭṭhāpanasammati). The training may be given to a married girl (gihigatā) of ten years.
