[1010] What is good for the Saṅgha, that conduces to the comfort of the Saṅgha; what conduces to the comfort of the Saṅgha, that conduces to the restraint of shameless persons; what conduces to the restraint of shameless persons, that conduces to the comfortable dwelling of well-behaved bhikkhus; what conduces to the comfortable dwelling of well-behaved bhikkhus, that conduces to the restraint of taints (āsava) pertaining to the present life; what conduces to the restraint of taints pertaining to the present life, that conduces to the warding off of taints pertaining to future lives; what conduces to the warding off of taints pertaining to future lives, that conduces to the confidence of those without confidence; what conduces to the confidence of those without confidence, that conduces to the increase of those with confidence; what conduces to the increase of those with confidence, that conduces to the continuance of the true Dhamma; what conduces to the continuance of the true Dhamma, that conduces to the support of the Vinaya.
