For which three persons do the spreadings of the kaṭhina not take effect? One standing outside the boundary (sīmā) expresses his approval (anumodati); one, expressing approval, does not utter speech; one, uttering speech, does not make another understand. For these three persons the spreadings of the kaṭhina do not take effect.
