[1158] How many withdrawals of the kaṭhina (kaṭhinuddhāra) are withdrawn within the boundary (sīmā)? How many withdrawals of the kaṭhina are withdrawn outside the boundary? How many withdrawals of the kaṭhina may be withdrawn within the boundary, or may be withdrawn outside the boundary?
Two withdrawals of the kaṭhina are withdrawn within the boundary: the intermediate withdrawal (antarubbhāra) and the simultaneous withdrawal (sahubbhāra).
Three withdrawals of the kaṭhina are withdrawn outside the boundary: that ending with departure (pakkamanantika), that ending with hearing (savanantika), and that ending with passing beyond the boundary (sīmātikkantika).
Four withdrawals of the kaṭhina may be withdrawn within the boundary, or may be withdrawn outside the boundary: that ending with completion (niṭṭhānantika), that ending with resolution (sanniṭṭhānantika), that ending with loss (nāsanantika), and that ending with the cutting off of expectation (āsāvacchedika).
