[1199] "Venerable sir, how many losses (byasana) are there?" "Upāli, there are these five losses. What five? Loss of relatives (ñātibyasana), loss of wealth (bhogabyasana), loss through illness (rogabyasana), loss of virtue (sīlabyasana), and loss with regard to view (diṭṭhibyasana). These, Upāli, are the five losses."
